We met outside the hostel at 5:30am and were joined by three new people who were girls from Germany (Lena), Canada (Amanda) and Denmark (Abbie). We drove to our camp first and had an early lunch and then went to Katherine Gorge. Most of the goup decided to canoe so I had a single canoe and some people had double canoes. It took us about an hour to get to the end of the gorge and we had fun splashing each other, trying to bump into each other and laughing at Lena and Paul who could not go in a straight line at all!
At the end of the gorge is a beach area and all of us went in the water to cool down as it was so hot! There were a lot of rocks so we couldn't properly swim so we sat on the rocks and Alex took some underwater photo's. Marc and I pretended to moon under the water and Alex joked about if he pulled his shorts down that we might spot a little fish in the water! There was a big rock in the water so Vince and I went to investigate whether it was safe to jump off. Vince jumped off first and when I saw that it was safe I jumped too. I then got Harriet and Lena to jump in with me and we held hands as we jumped. We then headed back in the canoes and 5 minutes along the gorge we got caught in a big storm and the rain was so heavy. It was actually quite fun as we could see the lightning and the rain was refreshing. It was strange as the river water was really warm whilst the rain was really cold. I was glad that I was canoeing in my bikini so that my clothes weren't really wet.
We drove back to the camp at 4:30pm and stopped at Katherine for some alcohol. It was a strange place with not much there and lots of aboriginals just hanging around in groups on the streets. At the camp we drank and listened to music. Most people went to bed before 10pm and Lena, Paul, Marc and I stayed up till about 11pm.
