I got up at 6am and waited outside the tour office for the bus to take me on my 6 day tour of the outback. I chatted to one girl from Germany but when two vehicles arrived she was on a different tour to me. In my group I had two ladies who were in their fifties (Ally and Darlene), two Asian's (Alex and Nicole), a French guy called Vince, a sensible looking English guy called Paul (who looked like he was mid thirties but turned out to be 27!), a good looking Irish guy who seemed quite fun and a dutch couple called Theo and Harriet. I sat next to the Irish guy at the back of the bus and then Paul came and joined us too. We introduced ourselves and chatted. To pass the time on the bus journeys as we had a lot of miles to do I came up with the idea of us taking it in turns to ask each other questions, which was funny. The boys joked that I loved the game as I was nosey!
Our first stop was a place to see some giant termite mounds and to learn about how they are created. We then went to Tolmer Creeks to visit some waterfalls. Next we went to Florence Falls and swam in the water there. Next stop was Mary River Wetlands where a very unenthusiastic guy took us on a river cruise to spot crocodiles. We saw a few and he drove the boat very close to them. We then stopped in the bus to watch the sunset and then headed to Point Stewart Wilderness Lodge to stay at our campsite for the night. We were staying in permanent tents there which seemed quite nice as there were proper beds in them and as the group was quite small there was enough for one each, so it was the first time since my first night in Sydney that I was sleeping in a 'room' on my own.
For dinner we tried kangaroo steak, which were really tasty and tender and also buffalo sausage. A few of us stayed up and chatted and played uno and then about 10:30pm we went to bed as we had an early start.
