26.5.10 This morning we went up to this little village called Mystras. This was once the capital of the Byzantine Empire. The fortress dates back to 1249. Sue and I walked through the ruins of the lower half which really is quite spectacular. We then drove Betsy up to the top. Tuesday 25.05.2010 We are loving southern Greece. With only 12,000,000 people it feels so much kinder than Italy's 60,000,000. The Greeks are friendly & helpful. We love their fresh produce, and it's cheap. The beaches are fabulous as are the camp grounds, they're about $10 to $15 less expensive than Italy's and they are also much nicer. Hello from Greece. Caught the ferry from Brindisi to Patras a 16 hour trip. We parked the van on the "open" deck and this enabled us to stay in the van if we wanted. So after dinner we went for a walk round the ship and then slept. It was very windy and wet so we were glad of the shelter. Shared the ship with about 100 Harley bikers, on their way to a raly here in Patras. They reckon there will be about 5,000 bikers here for the week. Alread...
