We stayed with the coastal road through Toulon, Marseille where once again parking was the big issue so we kept going back through Arles and out to the coast where we came across this amazing town right on the waterfront. All the way in we saw riding stable after riding stable where literally hundreds of horses were waiting to be hired out. We left our beautiful lakeside stay and started to make our way west towards Monaco. This part of France is beautiful. Huge mountain ranges, endless vineyards and lovely rolling bush areas and pastures. We drove through countless numbers of beautiful old villages where the streets were not much wider than Betsy. As we made our way down the coast of France we noticed a dramatic increase in the number of campervans on the move. We stopped overnight in a supermarket car park which allows overnight stays. In the morning I counted 58 vans parked there. The next night was the same. We stopped out this beautiful town called Blaye. Then on to the Loir River Valley. This region is one that all visitors to France come to. The river is huge and winds its way to the Atlantic, west. It is full of chateau. We drove past many but did visit two of the most famous ones. Chombord was the first. They are museums and are filled with beautiful art, tapestries and furnishings. France Hit France and cruised down the coast till we found a nice place to stay, which happened to be an aire. These are usually free and some have services such as water, waste water disposal etc. Next day we wandered down the coast stopping along the way at the beautiful little townships.
