Amsterdam
We found this nice campground just 8kms out of the city centre where we stayed for a couple of nights. The first day we caught the bus in and had a look around. We decided to take on of the canal boat tours first up. The tour takes you around the inner city via the canal systems. it's a little bit like Venice. We spent the rest of the day just wandering the streets. Huge crowds with the majority of the people being under 30 so we felt right at home !!!!! We came across the "girls" in the windows, nothing took my fancy so we moved on.
With every café we passed was came the smell of Marijuana which is smoked quite freely here.
We came across Anne Franks house which we thought we might like to look through until we saw the associated queue. After wandering around the city for the rest off the afternoon we caught the bus and headed back to the campground
That night we discussed going up to Scandanavia but in the end decided on the UK instead. So the next day we headed into Haarlem which is right next door to Amsterdam. The young lady at the campground thought that we might prefer it to Amsterdam, sought of inferring that we might be too old to enjoy Amsterdam. Not so. We found the usual problem with parking and the town certainly didn't have the buzz that Amsterdam had. Spent a couple of hours there before heading south.
Free camped next to a French couple just before the border to Belguim
