This small quaint town is where you come to see all the small penguins return to the beach for the night after a day at sea. At the visitor centre it tells you how many had been coming in each day and when the best time is for that evening. There's two lots of penguins that come in at different times the yellow eyed and then the others (can't remember the name). It seems that the town has got a bit cheeky and now charge you $20 to see one of the colonies so as I'm sure you can tell we didn't see that one and unfortunately it obviously wasn't meant to be for us to see the others, we stood there for ages and saw only 3 come out but we were so far away that we barely got to see anything and as it happens there was only 5 spotted that evening, great!
So there's only three photos for Omaru and there is a penguin in all of them even if one is a statue.
Not much else to say for here really, off home to Christchurch tomorrow.
