Lo siento mi espanol entiendo came in very handy today. We met up with Gloria and Teri from California again and again always showing up at the right time (made their acquaintance at Santiago airport) fluent speakers of Spanish when we went to buy a sim card (initially we bumbled our way thru) and with a little help from our new friends reentered the shop this time with success.
Earlier this morning at 11am when Sarria awakens we made our way to the Magdalena to purchase our credentials. What a blessing we thought we may have missed our opportunity. We reached the Church just as the padre was to close the door and he hastened us in.
We have just walked and walked and walked thoroughly enjoying the sights and unwinding with every step. By pure desire we stumbled across the gelato shop again and he recognised us no surprise those crazy nueva zelandas who eat tostadis for lunch. This time our senses chose fresh cherries and white chocolate and i fresh cherries and fresh gooey hazelnut.
Next on our list to go exploring the city and look out for our dried fruit seeds and nut mixture but to no avail not readily available. Our clever american friends had bought their stash with them something we thort we shd do but expected to purchase here. 2pm Sarria sleeps leaving us ample opportunity to sightsee. Later in the avo we sat on a park bench and watched the day carelessly pass by when two lovely senior citizens came near us her hand resting on his shoulder as her other hand held her walking stick and he had a stick in each hand then they sat right beside us and spoke fluent spanish it seemed we had there usual seat in the park and were letting us know in the nicest possible way. We did try and understand and then i showed photos of our mums our children and our Neveah those photos spoke louder than words. There was much oohing and uuhing until we bid adios.
Ran straight back into Gloria and Terri again and they invited us to 5 pm mass but we were not suitably dressed as it was i was getting looks in my shorts and short sleeved tops.
