Left Chalon and cycled down to Macon where we watched the finish of the Macon Semi-Marathon.
We set up our picnic inside the last kilometre and gave the runners a good boost with our cycle bells: especially my klaxon. That gave some of them a real fright!
After the tail enders were mostly in, there were some shorter running events for juniors. There was also a cycle race. Great entertainment. There was a good crowd and there was a good atmosphere with brass bands etc. I don't think any of the spectators were as loud as us, with our horns and shouts of "Bon Courage!" and "Allez!".
The monkey joined in.
Then we put in a hard day's riding. We needed to make up time after falling two days behind (one when we had to turn back in bad weather and one looking around Besancon). At times we were really 'on the rivets'.
We went through one town (forget its name), where, in 1822, photography was invented.
We got to Leon late pm and had a good look around on our bikes. Great place!
But we pushed on a tad further so's to get beyond tomorrow's rush hour. So we are just south of Leon, on the banks of the Rhone.
We did 103 miles, into a head wind at at average pace of 12.4mph. (It would have been much faster if the wind had changed direction.)
Very tired.
The weather has not been good. Very English. Rain for the last few days. Rain tomoz too.
Heading now down the Rhone valley, towards Provence.

Gazza You sure are going to be fit when we see you next though I guess you feel knackered, or at least leg weary, at the mo. Yep, weather Monday looks damp but improving after that, though still some showers forecast. Looks pretty damn warm on the Med. hopefully that will become evident to you soon, well done, Gazza xx
stevejackiegreen Ta Gaz!
Mr Jangut If you stop in Avignon this evening don't forget you have to dance. What is your dance of choice? Waltz, quickstep, fandango or perhaps a plain old-fashioned two-step?
Mr Jangut I also forgot to ask what you did with the plumbers in the bath a few days ago!
