Not sure what happened there!
The Euro tunnel bike-carrying-van was supposed to drop us in Calais. But the train was delayed for two hours and the driver was anxious to get back to England (apparently he had a darts match). I guess that was why he pulled over on a patch of rabbit infested grass, just off the motorway and asked us to get out there. Here? Yes! He gave us quick (unclear) instructions as to how to get into Calais (it was 8:20pm and getting darker), then he sped off. We looked around and saw just motorways! Deja vu, I thought. I have no idea why he dropped us off at such a spot. The other two cyclists in the van (an elderly gay couple who shared a flat with an Aspergers sufferer), stayed on board and, presumably, got dropped off somewhere more amenable. Perhaps we said something to upset him??
With some difficulty, we found our way into town via Sangatte (having GB stickers on my bike, I kept checking the underside of my panniers for clinging asylum seekers.)
At last. Found a hotel. Looks ok.
Start cycling in the morning...

Mr Jangut Nice to know that your journey has started well. How did you get from rabbit infested grass to Calais if you didn't cycle? You started cycling this evening!
stevejackiegreen I meant 'proper' cycling...
Andy C Cycling thru France with GB stickers on the bike . . . braver man than me!
Jenny I sometimes wonder if you should you be allowed out alone??
