STATS, France

Gazza How about some stats? That's what hashers want! You must have been plastered, maybe even implanted, with GPS devices and bike computers for your marathon bike ride. How many miles, how long in the saddle, how many punctures, how many breakfast croissants, etc. how many miles lost to poor map reading would be a good one too.... Gazza

Gazza Impressive stats? Surprised you weren't up to your eyes in GPS devices as they're so common. And very decent daily mileages especially as I'm sure there were hills you didn't mention. I didn't want to say before you visited Marseilles but all the Frenchies I know in Toulouse regard it as the centre of gangsterism and low level crime! Maybe they have different standards to us Brits so perhaps we should go there on one of our hash weekends ( though the airport's a long way from the city, FC). Well done folks...... Gazza

re: St Chinian, FranceWolfie Well done, both. Did the Carmargue remind you of Severn Beach? Or is it just me?
re: Marseille, FranceMartyn Co-incidence or what. Same day you had your speed fix it was reported that a Dutch guy has broken the speed record for bike at a mind boggling 137kmh (85mph). Don't think it looked like it would be very comfortable as a touring bike mind. Overall seems to have been an interesting trip with extremes of weather. Enjoy the beach and the knowledge that you don't need to sit on a saddle for a few days.
re: Marseille, FranceSoprano Dear Lunchi and Piglet - it has been all our pleasure following your trials, tribulations, panics and joys. Jen and your Mum and Dad will be relieved, yet overjoyed at your achievement and safe passage. Very well done. Hugs and kisses from Northend (with a gorgeous Full (Harvest) Moon On On Soprano xx
re: Marseille, FranceMr Jangut Before you spend the evening looking at the moon you should cosider your options in the Carmargue. Will you see 'Crazy Horses'? Will you see the 'Horse with no name'? Or maybe 'Riders in the storm'.You may even get the opportunity to 'Ride a white horse' You may even meet Mr Ed! Anyway I'm very envious of you visiting The Carmargue. Have a great experience.
re: Arles, FranceMr Jangut I know it's silly but I've got to ask. Why did Gazza take his bike to Marseille? Don't the company provide transport?
re: Arles, FranceSoprano Morning Lunchi and Piglet - Enjoying the blog immensely. You can cycle a bit further this evening guided by the September full Moon, if you so wish of course. Pop into your iPods Neil Young's Harvest Moon or jump off the bike and have a quick Moondance with Van - checking out your Moonshadow with Cat. As the Rhone fades into the Med say bye to that old Moon River or my favourite Moon song Dvorak - Rusalka's Song to the Moon (asking for the Moon to reveal her love for the prince) I'm sure your miles will zoom by. Did you know that gazing at the Moon for just 5 minutes each night, but especially at a full Moon for 15 minutes can help preserve vision! It is so simple yet nobody does it and, it can do no harm. It's all good - there is no Bad Moon Rising. Soprano xx
re: Arles, FranceGazza You staying in Marseilles for any time? Watch your bikes! Marseilles has a 'reputation' amongst the Frenchies. When I've been to that part of the world for work they take me out to Aix and not Marseilles. Gazza xx
re: Arles, France- travel plan
Steve has not added a travel plan yet
