Steve goes travelling
So after the Mardi Gras I went back to the girl’s house and hung out there until the wee hours. Garth rocked up around mid night the most smashed id seen him, curry in hand - he had already phoned me about 3 times and the girls a few times, altho he didn’t know who 'the girls' were when I first talked to him! He proceeded to come in, fall in to the wall a few times, mop up his curry and find some beer in their house to carry on with! Back at my house he decided to get the front room table and throw it across the room (being good tho by taking my mob off it first=result!) This however woke Jess (our weird housemate who just stared at us) who then came down and waited to say goodbye, thankfully I avoided the hug and just got in the cab. So at about 4am me and Claire were off to the airport. In the taxi on the way there we were talking and I heard the driver say 'domestic'? (to which Claire replied NOOOOOO, thinking he meant were we having a domestic!) In fact what he meant was the domestic as opposed to international terminal!! The flight to Melbourne was ok, I managed to somehow fall asleep nearly as soon as I got on the plane, before even sitting down - then woke up when we landed - shattered! The hostel was about a 20min walk, so we got a cab as 20kg on my back and some on my front at stupid o clock in the morning wasn’t an option! When we got there tho they said we couldn’t check in till 2, so we left our stuff and went for a walk, got on the free tram, went once around the city...and were back at the hostel at about 10:30 or 11! Jesus! I met a guy that Garth worked with in Sydney so he let us use his key card to get in the TV room so we went up there and fell asleep till we could move in! The next few days I registered with some agencies and had an interview and then eventually sorted a job to start the following Wednesday (and have Thur and Fri off for the grand prix!). The rest of the wk I did some more touristy stuff and spent quite a few days getting burnt in the wicked gardens they have here, reading my book and just chilling. Caroline the Dutch girl who lived in the terraces with Claire was tour guide for one day and took me us around the city (not that she knew it more but boy did she love that map!!) She was a really funny girl and some of her sayings were class, she was (as I’ve found with the Danish girls) a) very good at English b) even better at sarcasm and matched me point for point! One of my favourite things she said was about walking in to a Chinese tourist in the street, instead of saying that the man bumped in to her she said ' and this stupid Chinese man had intercourse with me down the street' - she realised the error of her ways when me and Claire couldn’t stop laughing at her! Top girl! The hostel was pretty nice but in the 15 days we were there I think we cooked about 3 times, the kitchen was way too small and crowded all the time.... -----Melbourne Lifehttp://nottinghamac.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2120220&l=2e291&id=199703881http://nottinghamac.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2128921&l=710b3&id=199703881Grand Prixhttp://nottinghamac.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2123896&l=32364&id=199703881 http://nottinghamac.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2128946&l=95713&id=199703881 http://nottinghamac.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2128968&l=e7a71&id=199703881 Philip Islandhttp://nottinghamac.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2133466&l=7cb25&id=199703881Great Ocean Road / Round the Twist / MCG, AFL / Work / Neighbours Kitchen!!http://nottinghamac.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2128921&l=710b3&id=199703881 Final Melbourne / Work drinks / My flat / Art / Telstra Dome, AFLhttp://nottinghamac.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2141844&l=6fe1c&id=199703881 Digging for Gold / Sovereign Hillhttp://nottinghamac.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2138739&l=a49d7&id=199703881
