Steve goes travelling
So we arrived at Magnums backpackers for the night for a 2 night 3day sailing trip around the Whitsundays island. Our boat was called Pegasus and skippered by Pete a crazy kiwi bloke with Johnno another kiwi being the dive instructor and some other staff doing the cooking and what not. On the way out we sailed for about 2 hours, the winds were pretty strong and I think we got about 8 nots (however you spell it) or so, the boat was rocking from side to side and most people who got to the front of the boat sat down for the rest of it. I decided to lie down and close my eyes - lovely feel on the old stomach! We stopped off at various viewing points and beaches and stuff and then anchored off the shore for the night. The stars were so bright it was amazing and a few of us slept on deck. Jen one of the girls from Blackpool didn’t have a sleeping bag (and b***** it I was gona give up mine - I lent her my trousers at least!) slept with a towel over her and said during the night she woke up clinging on to it while it was blowing away! The next day we went to a viewing point - it took me bloody ages and my foot was killing by now! Then we got to the whitsundays beach - amazing sand, its was so so fine and as white as anything. Went for a dip, avoiding any deadly stingers!! Then off to another place to do some snorkelling. This night some other boats came over to ours for a toga party and some drinking games. The Swedes brought 'slaps' and the ozzie some horse racing drinking game. Unfortunately for one of the Swedes she was s*** at her own game and ended up being sick all over our boat before nearly falling off on her way back to hers! (complete mayhem!) Only a few of us slept on deck this night and boy was it windy, I woke up probably every 30mins having slipt down the ship a bit and it was gale force the whole time! I also saw 2 shooting stars which was bloody cool - Jen managed to miss both and was pretty pissed off cos she was actually see sick the whole 3 days and couldn’t wait to get off, obviously I didn’t find this toooo funny!!hmmOn the sail back we managed 10 nots which apparently is quite good - I dunno!Wicked time had by allhttp://nottinghamac.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2074744&l=f6e52&id=199703881 http://essex.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2888&l=fced0&id=283600208
