Fitzroy Crossing 21/6/15
A great stay here at the Lodge/caravan park on the banks of the mighty Fitzroy. The Crossing is a dry town, so no pubs as such but the lodge has a restaurant and bar where all are welcome to drink so long as patrons are compliant. The original landholders are the Bunaba people and it is encouraging to see some local businesses run by these people. Geiki Gorge is certainly worth a visit - sunset cruise on the Fitzroy is magic. The limestone Devonian reef which has been exposed to the elements for millions of years releases some magnificent oranges, reds, black and white being at the base waterline. Great sunset snaps. This is boab country, all shapes and sizes, short, fat, tall , skinny and some entwined but all display their own character. Enjoyed our stay here. Photo -the old Crossing
