This photo is the Matterhorn in Switzerland. No I did not see this, but I was able to see some other great mountainous regions in Lucerne. Sorry, the computer won't allow me to upload photos so I'll have to wait until I'm on a less restricted computer.
Moving on... After Oktoberfest we headed to Lucerne to rest and relax for 4 days. It was the most unreal and amazingly beautiful landscape yet! After sleeping in, J and I caught a boat that was headed all the way up Lake Lucerne, a six hour round trip. More a form of transportation for the region than a guided tour, we sat, I read a whole book, took a million photos, and enjoyed the sunshine and some fish fritters in the dining cabin.
It was quite a shock to the system coming here from Munich, but we got some much needed rest and were able to send a box of souvenirs home so we could lighten our load...which had increased by ten pounds at that point! ten pounds is not a lot until you're walking for miles with your pack on trying to find a hostel.... Yeah.
Day two was rainy so we spent most of it indoors reading and I caught up on some phone calls. :)
Day three we headed up to Friens to catch a 30 minute gondola ride that took us up Mount Pilatus, the tallest mountain in central Switzerland I believe. Don't quote me on that though! Anyway, I took some video of the gondola ride that will be coming eventually. Our stop was Frakmunteggm where the ropes course and the sweet tobaggon ride are located. We each rode the tobaggon run once, Jessie of course made fun of me for how slow I went but there was a million break signs and I was not about to fall off a plastic seat and crash into a steel plate with a million obnoxious kids behind me. It was still fun nevertheless, just like a big slide. And yes I did make car racing sounds the whole way down just for effect. :) Fortunately for you that's not on video.
Our last day we checked out and headed to the train station for Paris. As Jessie may poignantly remember at a later date, our car smelled like sushi and other very unpleasant food items and there was a large obnoxious tour group all over the place. We made it to Paris though!
