We arrived in Dublin around 11 pm on Monday the 10th. We rode the bus about a half an hour into town with Jessie narrating the happenings at every stop so we could try to guess which one was 'City Center'. We hopped off and wandered toward our hostel. Which included walking past hundreds of 18 and older 'kids' lined up around the block to get into clubs. It is Monday remind you. Anyway, after walking through an alley with a group of guys making pee streams on the sidewalk, then we were personally escorted to our hostel, Oliver Gogartys. We dropped our stuff and headed back down stairs to the attached bar by the same name. We were quickly taken under the wing of two very sociable Scottish men and the night was hilarious and endlessly entertaining. There was lots of dancing and an unexpected amount of American inspired music.
Tuesday we spent much of the day sleeping, but managed to check out quite a few castles, cathedrals and of course, the Guinness Storehouse. Later in the evening, we ate dinner at 'Cafe Bar Deli' then headed to the Stags Head bar for our first drink and I interviewed the bartender as to why they pour Guinness in the particular fashion they do. After that, we headed to the famed Temple Bar and squished our way through tons of people, 18-80 years old, and enjoyed some original Irish music.
Today, Wednesday, is our last day here and we are off to see the gardens at Trinity College, and maybe a few more castles or cathedrals, whatever we happen to pass. We forgot to book a hostel for tonight, but it'll work out ok because we have to be at the airport around 4:30 am, so we figure we'll shut down another bar and catch a cab to the airport. Should be our first vagabond experience. Exciting. :)
