Hello from not-so-sunny Melbourne!!
We arrived her a couple of days ago on the Overlander train, not quite the monster journey of the Indian Pacific but still a whole lotta nothing to be seen on the way!!
It has to be said all those who proclaimed "Oh, you will love Melbourne!" were correct! It seems to be an awesome city with LOADS to do and see, very mixed culture and friendly people. And that's only after a few days. In the words of my cousin Dawn "It pisses all over Perth", (except I think she said it the other way round-oh well).
We are staying in a noisy but fun hostel in St. Kilda right above the pub where they hold Neighbours night. We have already done the tour (Ramsay street is SMALL!!)and are heading to meet Libby, Paul etc on Monday!!! I did meet Janine Timmons briefly...she came onto our tour bus as I dashed past her running for the toilet (a long tour with no toilet breaks!). She looked at me and said "You bustin'?" to which I said "yep"...not exactly a starstruck moment!! Stephen got a pic with her though- see if you recognise her as she looks totally different to when she was in Neighbours anyway!!
We also met up with a uni pal of Stephen's who is teaching here...and he seemed pretty confident about our chances of work. SO...not to count any chickens but I think we will be looking at Melbourne as a place to settle for a work. Still heading back via the Ocean road to Adelaide for crimbo and Sydney for new years but this could be our town. The ONLY negative thing is the weather so far- it has been stormy but it is c-c-cold today and I sure ain't staying if it's always like this! ( I'm assured it's not.)
Anyway, that's enough from me, it was Stephen's birthday yesterday and he is feeling old- check out the pictures of him with the beard and the hat (I got him an Akubra as a bday gift) and give him some compliments!!
Love to everyone at home,
L xx
