Uh oh! You've landed in another pile of Stephen nonsense! However, I've got nine minutes until my internet time runs out so here goes...
We stayed in Melbourne for a week, and I got the honour of celebrating my 28th birthday (actually, it's my 29th as my first one was the day I was born but for some reason that doesn't count as a birthday despite it being my one true birthday). Since Leah last posted here, we rented a Wicked camper and took to the Great Ocean Road.
We picked up our camper van in Melbourne and christened her the "Foxy Cleopatra". She had a few lewd messages on her side but nothing that a Carry On movie wouldn't show. She did attract more than a wee bit of attention on our travels though.
On day 1, we drove down through Geelong and a few other places to Apollo Bay where we stayed the night on the foreshore.
On day 2, we saw amazing rock formations such as London Bridge, the twelve apostles and the Arch before spending the night on the foreshore of Warnambool.
On day 3, we saw the amusingly named Port Fairy and other delights before sleeping in a car park in Mount Gambier. We also saw the movie Australia there. I have time for a quick story-
We booked our tickets for the 9pm screening and set off to kill the 60 minutes before it started. At 8.30pm, the town bells were chiming and Leah, in her wisdom, realised that as we had crossed over to South Australia, we had changed time zone by half an hour. We dashed to the cinema, burst through the doors and realised to our embarassment that it was 8pm. We shuffled out slowly in order to kill another 60 minutes. Well, a good enough mistake for Phileous Fogg is a good enough mistake for us!
Day 4 we made it to Meningie (no, really) and we slept in the town centre on the foreshore.
Day 5 was spent driving back to Adelaide via Hahndorf (a town that has a bewildering belief that it is in Germany) and Mount Lofty (the greatest name for a mountain ever).
Please note, that in true Scottish fashion, we never once paid for camping and between us, we had ONE shower in 4 days! Good times!
We went to the Australia v NZ cricket at Adelaide Oval yesterday. We're not convinced on the cricket yet!
Now, we're looking for work. I'm thinking of busking but will have to go through the effort of learning an instrument first. I may have to sell my body for cash... it may take a while!
