Went to Chatujak market today!! You can buy absolutely everything under the sun there!! From frying pans to puppies (photos especially for you tom (batho)), kittens, clothes, food, arrange parcel shipping, wardrobes - you name it!! Was very exciting - spent the whole day there!! Bought quite a lot of stuff (hadn't bought anything until today) spent 34pounds which is a lot since my budget is 15pounds a day, but i felt i deserved a treat!! (not sure why) Will have to starve for dinner. bought 2 lovely dresses - one silk and one not. they cost about 6pounds each!! and I haggled skillfully! Dad - you'd be proud! Clothes at the market were much better than any i've seen abnywhere else - handmade and really pretty - will be doing my shopping from there from now on. Had a horrible experience at lunch. Couldn't find anywhere with english signs so in the end i had to eat at a stall where i didn't know what i was ordering otherwise i would die of starvation. Actually turned out to be ok - some kind of chicken noodle soup thing. Anyway, decided to be brave and put some dried chilli on it (getting used to the spicy food - actually - something sick that i found out today - they put chilli in their sweets!! What kind of insane person puts chilli in sweets!) Anyway - back to my point - put a bit of chilli on my food. went a bit crazy with it - was far too hot, but my pride wouldn't allow me to show it (they think us westerners aren't hard and can't take our spicy food, which is true, but i'm not letting them win!). Then I sneezed and the chilli went everywhere - all in my hair. Cleaned it up thought nothing of it. Then about 10mins later my chest starts burning - then my face then my arms!! Thought i'd been stung or something. Took me a while to realise that the bloody chilli had got everywhere and was rubbing all over my skin from my hair!! There was nowhere to wash it off!! It was awful - spent the whole afternoon burning! Stupid chilli. Also - saw a woman on the way home on the subway with long toe nails!! They were shaped and painted like you would your finger nails!! It was sick - looked like claws - I'm definitely against long toe nails. going on a river cruise tomorrow - hopefully should get some good photos.
