Monday 17th - Wednesday 20th May 2015
So I came back to Sunshine for two days of work, which I have to work slush cup (last day of the season) in order to get my bonus!
I found out that I was working the morning of slush cup which meant I can go and enjoy slush cup with my friends! I was super stoked!
I has the 6 am shift at Bourgeau, perfect way to end the season! The day went super quick and everyone was in high spirits! I got to leave at noon and headed up the G-Ops to hang out with my team who had the rest of the afternoon off. Holly, Mike, Elysee, Sam, Curt, Dan, Steph and a couple of others. Well we had a great time in the sun drinking and headed up the top to see everyone face plant in the giant water jump! Some of the costumes were awesome! We had a great time messing around!
I managed to face plant the ground and have a huge cut across my chin, apparently there is some awesome footage which I am yet to see! We had plenty of gondola beers and when we came to the bottom we were all pretty high on life! We had a few drinks at creekside and some food before we all celebrated the last gondola arriving at Bourgeau for the season. Cam and Kieran had brought some champers and we were all cheering! Everyone was properly looking at us thinking what the hell are these guys doing! It was just the most amazing feeling finishing seven months of hard work with a group of people that I now call my friends!
I don't remember the bus ride home much and Andrew had to help me home and I pretty much passed out when I got back!
On the Tuesday we got a bus to Elysee's parents house for our end of the season party. His house is about an hour from Banff in Cochrane and it was beautiful!
We had some pizza and chilled in the garden with good cheer and lots of beer! We had our award ceremony for the things we voted people for and there was a few awards that were added in from personal and season jokes! They were pretty funny! I got the golden broom award, no ball and chain award! I laughed so hard!
Our last two awards were most improved operator of the season and THE operator of the season. Eoin got most improved which was well deserved and I got the operator of the season. I honestly thought it was going to be one of the boys so I was super surprised about my award and my new sign trail sign I received! Just need to get the overall employee of the month sign and my set will be complete! So I not have my two signs happily stuck on the wall above my bed to see now!
We headed back and partied some more at Dave's house, Cam came to join us as he was working all day so it was great to see him! It was so good to see everyone so happy to have completed and made it to the end!
I was feeling worse for wear on Wednesday, I'm glad I asked Brewster if I could start on Thursday and not today!! Elysee and I hung out for a bit and met up with Holly, Debbie and Ainslie and hired some bikes. We rode all the way to Lake Minnewanka! I thought I was going to die! We did it in 45 minutes which isn't too bad considering the big hill half way through the ride!
The ride back only took us 15 minutes which was much easier! I felt a little sad as everyone was about to leave to either go home, or continue their travels elsewhere around the world! I'm just glad I got to meet all these amazing people who I intend to see again wherever there are in the world!
