So I arrived back in Banff safe and sound, I had the weekend off before I was back at work in my new role as assistant supervisor! So exciting!! Thanksgiving was over the weekend so enjoyed seeing everyone again and eating lots and lots of turkey! Can it be Thanksgiving every weekend?
So I've set myself some targets this winter as I felt like I didn't do as much as I wish I had done. Don't get me wrong I enjoyed my season last year a lot, but this year I am determined to get everything I want to do, done!
The resorts I want to hit up this year are: Lake Louise, Norquay, Kicking Horse, Panorama, Big White, Fernie, Revelstoke, Marmot. I also want to go skiing and actually get good enough to do my level 1 ski teaching course, possible level 2 in my snowboarding. Get into a Cat this year, go tubing! Its a pretty big list but its totally do-able! Anything extra in between is a bonus!
The first few weeks of work was kind of stressful, Liz was in England and then in Australia, while I was interviewing and training new staff and freaking out about the whole thing! Everything went pretty well and everyone was offering me help where they could! So grateful for having everyone supporting me! Work was so much smoother when Liz was here! She filled in all the gaps where I had missed things. The new operators have been pretty good, must have been all that training!!
Had my birthday, which was very different from last year, we went to the maple leaf for dinner...such good food! I couldn't stop myself!! No shots this year!!
Went out riding on opening day which was epic! Last year it was just the strawberry chair open, this year we had 5 chairs open...we had that much snow!!! It was a pretty good powder day! I've already been out more than I have last year! Not so much on my days off as I've only been getting two days off and I feel like I need a 'life' or as Mike calls it, an underpants day!
I've been out with Liz a fair amount taking awesome photos at night and the northern lights. In fact one night I had just come in from a few drinks with friends at Mel's got myself into my PJs and crawled into bed at 10 pm. Not even 30 seconds later, Liz called. I thought it was important (which it was) so answered it with Liz asking if I want to go take pictures of the lights. I'm trying this new thing of saying yes to things (experiences rather than drinking and going out etc) so I was back up getting on a million layers i.e. all my work gear, and headed out! It wasn't amazingly high but we saw greens and purples in the sky, on the camera screen. It was pretty awesome and you could see the milky and greens with your eyes! It was well worth being extremely tired for work the next day. I have morphed into Liz!!
We also headed out one night to the Vermillion lakes as the sky was so clear you could see Mt. Rundle super clear and the pictures we took were amazing! With all the stars in the sky!! I already want to buy another camera lens like Liz so I can take even better photos!!
