I went to Jasper National Park with Andrew and Cam for the day, it was a really good day! We stopped by Peyto lake (standard). It was melted and had this beautiful sky blue coloured water. It looked stunning!
We stopped off at the icefields to go and check out the glaciers! It was pretty cool, we jumped on a huge truck with gigantic wheels! It was awesome to see the glaciers in the park and get to stand on them!
We stopped for a walk around Stanley falls, which used to be on the old highway, so it was super quiet an was awesome to look at. Eight waterfalls in a row! It was pretty sweet!
On our way back we saw several bears which we stopped to take a million pictures which is standard practice here!
On the way home we saw a huge elk with a massive rack! Like totally insane!
Did an afternoon walk down the sundance canyon, got eaten ALIVE by mossies! Had two massive bites on my forehead which was not cool at all! We came across garter snake, well I didn't even notice it until Andrew stopped me and I screamed like the biggest girl in the world! Wasn't expecting it at all!
We did a huge hike up at Lake Louise, we started with walking around the waterfront of the lake before we started our uphill hike to the plains of six glaciers.
It was a good walk, not to steep or crazy. We heard some loud noises and was wondering what it was, it was actually an avalanche happening on the backside of the mountain. We heard several of these noises! Wish I could of seen the avalanches that were creating these noises! The view of the six glaciers were awesome! It was well worth the hike up! The walk down was a little scary, rock falling everywhere! The path was a little steep too! We had a great view of the lake and the chateau! It was great! We stopped at the tea house and had lunch and watched everyone one walking by.
We then took the high line trail up to the bee hive look out. We saw several people walking down the way we were going and several people commenting that we are the only people they have seen. This should have been a warning! It was a tough section of switch backs, I had to stop after every switchback to catch my breath! We finally managed to reach the bee hive lookout which was stunning! I had plenty of time to catch my breath and recover from the hard walk up!
The walk down was better, we walked down to Lake Agnes and stopped by at the tea house and had something to drink! It was well needed! Lake Agnes was named for original First Lady of Canada - Lady Agnes MacDonald, the wife of Canada's first Prime Minister. In 1886, Lady MacDonald visited Lake Agnes and was delighted by the beauty of this idyllic lake and the hanging valley it sits in.
The Lake Agnes Tea House was originally built in 1901 by the Canadian Pacific Railway, as a refuge for hikers, and started serving tea in 1905. The log building was replaced in 1981 but still features the original windows, tables and chairs.
The walk back down to the car was much easy! Nice down hill switch backs! It was a long 17 km hike and I was a little red from the hike! But it was an awesome hike and well worth it!
