Liv, Jess and I are fiiiinally together! Just like it should be. it is so wonderful being alltogether, we are having lots of fun together, and you know its just so nice to see them after so long apart!! i have missed my dear friends and it is exciting we get to see these wonderful places together.
So first stop was London, for 4 nights (5 nights for them) I met them in Notting Hill at our hostel. Sightseeing proceeded, for he next few days, with Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey, Big Ben, The Houses of Parliament, Oxford Street Shopping, TopShop, Portobello Markets (oh man soo good), aced the underground with our oyster cards, and realised how easy it is to spend money in that city. Really enjoyed the accents surrounding us in the streets, and marvelled t the attention to detail in the architecture, never seen anythinhg like it before as we are deprived of proper old buildings at home. Also quite enjoyed the black cabs.
Our second Hostel was in Kings Cross, so it was nice to be close to everything in a central, busy-ish but in a good way place. We managed to fit in trips to the Globe Theatre, London Bridge and the river Thames, The Tower of London, and we even paid our 2 pounds to climb the 331 stairs of the monument! such a beautiful view from up there.
We had a pretty good experience with the hostels, they were good for a cheap bed and free brekky and a good location. It was pretty crowded in our second place, 12 girls in one little room, 3 levelled bunk beds, and it had its moments but overall it was fun. we had tried getting servas hosts but found it difficult, with most busy or away on holidays.
Our last day was one to remember, after taking photos at platform 9 and 3 quarters at ings Cross along with several other harry potter fans, we ventured outside the city centre on some double decker buses (so into that now) to camden, to see abbey road. it was a hot hot afternoon and we were hAppy when we spotted the familiar lookong crossing...only to find, 15 minutes later, that in fact we were at the wrong pedestrian crossing, a guy who must have took pity on our mistake showed us the right direction and we were setting up our perfect beatles-worthy abbey road shots in no time. it was well worth it, and its somewhere that liv and i have always wanted to see, what with both our fathers' beatles influence on us throughout our childhood and throgh to now.
Would have loved to see more of England, especially Cambridge, Brighton and Stratford-Upon-Avon which are places I have heard great things about, but there is always next time, this is only the beginning of our adventures in travel. xxx
