Hi Sophie, what a lovely write-up about Bristol. Glad you enjoyed your time here. We definately enjoyed having you and the crew.
Glad you got home safely (although sounds like you had a few hiccups with the flight!!??). Enjoy being home and the familiarity of it all.
Lots of love

Hi Soph
It was great to read about your travels! You have seen so many rad things, I reckon Japan would be awesome. Say hi to your Mum and hope you have a lovely time together.
Maybe we'll get to see you early next year.

Helle Sofia. I read your Caen's description with great interest. I add about "La rue froide" (The Cold street) that its name comes from this ancient habit : the prisonners that led to the scaffold, crossed this street to reach the Place St Sauveur where they were executed. It was the path to the death.

Hello again dear Sophia Loren,
I am glad you had the Stevie Wonder experience, and such a WONDERful way you have described it all. I am happy to say that Brian and I went to that park too, and looked out over the city. It was full of snow and very lovely and I am so happy you got to experience that with Cathey, but in Summer. I'm glad you are getting your french hit in Canada.
lots of love,
from perth where i am enjoying seeing this western city. We are seeing Jemma and Ellen tomorrow at the show (tony is away) and hopefully we will see Winston and Sarah too before we go.

Hi Sophie, great hearing your news. We are also having a great time travelling around England. Tomorrow we are off to Paris for 5 days then Switzerland for a few days then meet mum and dad to start our cycle trek.
Anyway....mum has told me that you have signed up (or about to) to Servas, so I thought we would tell you a bit about our experience....so far we have stayed at 3 places with servas in England (Bath, Bristol x2) and have arranged for 3 places in Paris, still need to arrange our Switerzland places. The people in England were so hospitable giving us heaps of yummy food to eat, and treating us like royality. We always had a room to our selves, and 2 out of the 3 gave us keys to the house so we could come and go as we pleased. As you know you can only stay for a max and min of 2 nights, and can't ask to stay longer or shorter, and there is no exchange of money. We have tended to buy a bottle of wine to share at the main meal, or chocolates for dessert (whatever is more suitable), and then sometimes make a meal, always do the washing up and sometimes help with meal prep, and then leave a card to say a BIG thankyou. We have got these cute little photos from a photo booth and stick a small pic of us on our card, which pple seem to like as it reminds them down the track of what we look like. Servas hosts tend to have about 3 lots of people to stay a year, summer is def the most popular. The only down side is the amount of time it takes to hook up a date with someone. It can be expensive calling lots of people (we have found buying credit on skype to be the cheapest) and phoning seems to get a more immediate and positive responce. Emailing is good to then follow up with details of when you arrive and how to get to their house etc. If you just email requesting to stay at their place without a phone call alot of people just ignore you, or can take a while to get back to you. Even the hosts told us that they find it hard to say no on the phone but can easily say no on email. Just a few tips for ya.
if you have any more questions about servas we're happy to help and tell of our experiences.
Lots of love
