It was the last day of school for the year for the kids at Safisha Africa School which made the day full of mixed emotions.  We all arrived at the school in the morning at 9 am and all the kids were in the one room. It was quite quiet until we said our "Good morning" routine one last time. There were no classes - it was going to be all fun and games today - and we can't forget the dancing...! We gave the kids a hula hoop as a gift which they really liked. So...

Most of the exams were over so it was a nice, chilled out day with the kids. It poured with rain last night so their 'play area' was flooded out. Luckily the kids are so good at entertaining themselves no matter the circumstances. Kate read a number of the kids a book which they loved – they were so engaged by it! There was still no power this morning so it was cold showers all around! Got a lift into school this morning for day 2 of exams. Some of the interesting questions today: 1. Today we caught the metatu (a van) some of the way to school – it costs only 20 cents each! And then we walked the rest of the way. We saw some goats and ducks strolling the streets along the way. We were also greeted on the roadside by lots of kids yelling out 'mzungu, mzungu' (white person, white person) and then some running up to us for big cuddles. Today marked the last week of school at Safisha. This week, the kids will sit exams from Tuesday to (most likely) Thursday. We all went to school and helped the kids revise some old exam papers. Calvin spent most of the time in the Year 1, 2, 3, 4 classroom and Kate spent most of the time in the nursery and babies class.
