Soongies' Great Adventure
Today we drove from Bordeaux to Clermont-Ferrand which took about 4 hours. We managed to phone some family and friends on the drive which made the 4 hours pass a lot quicker. Unfortunately Calvin was feeling a bit unwell - maybe a virus of some sort - so Kate drove while Calvin rested in the passenger seat. We arrived at our Ibis Budget accommodation at about 1:45. We just rested for a while in the accommodation to give Calvin some time to get better. We watched some skiing and tennis on TV and ate our 2 min noodles with added veggies for lunch. We then decided to drive to the base of the puy-de-dome mountain with the intention of catching the train to the top. We arrived at about 4:45 - the last train up was at 5:00 but then the last train down was at 5:30. For €25 we decided that was not enough time to make the ticket worthwhile so we just drove down to the lookout instead. We then drove into the Clermont Ferand town centre on the hunt for something to eat for dinner. Being a Sunday in France, not much was open at all! Or if they were opening tonight, it wasn't until 7:00 which would usually be ok but we really felt like a nice early dinner and early night so Calvin could get better. We wandered around a bit but apart from seeing a nice cathedral there wasn't much to look at - it was dead! We eventually came across a sushi cafe (the same chain as the one we went to in Lyon) so we ate there - they opened at 6:00. As we weren't properly full after that, we made a quick trip to Maccas for an extra couple of snacks and then it was home time. We watched some Bond back at the hotel then it was time for bed.
