Tuesday 20th Nov
Our activities weren't till 10.45am so Daniel decided to use the time to have his hair cut... do we hear you all cheering? It was quite expensive for his liking!
Shotover Jet was the first activity we did. Had a transport to take us there and were taken to the jet straight away! Lisa decided to take a risk to take her camera onboard to take a couple of videos/photos.
For you guys who don't know what Shotover Jet is, its apparently the world's most exciting jet boat ride. Its a thrilling ride - skimming past rocky outcrops at close range in your shotover jet as you twist and turn through the narrow canyons at breathtaking speeds and the major highlight - the famous shotover jet full 360 degrees spins!
It was very fast and bumpy!! It was actually hurting our ears due to the speeds. We did also get splashed but we didn't mind that! Actually not for Lisa's hair, it ended up in big knots and stupidly of her, she forgotten to bring her brush to sort it out before moving on to do the canyon swings!
We were on the ride for at least 45mins and it didn't feel like as it was. It went too quickly! We have purchased the photo packs to remember the activity as it was so enjoyable. Daniel particularly liked 360 degrees spins.
We then waited for the pick up for the Canyon swing. It was only 5 mins drive away! We had to walk at least 400m before getting to see the famous Canyon Swing.
Again for you guys, who wanted to know what the canyon swing is. It starts at the platform as you leap or launch from the 109 metres
After sorting ourselves out, we got our harnesses on and Daniel was the 3rd person. He have prompted for the Chair style. Its the style where you sit and then position you backwards on the edge. Its up to you to play with the gravity, slowly pass through the point of no return and enjoy the ride! Seatbelt provided!
Daniel was scared before arriving to the location due to his height fears. He refused to look down. When he finally got into the position of sitting down in the chair, he gained more confidence by not looking down(!) Using his feet, he had to lean back to get himself off the platform. But the staff played the trick on him by holding onto his harness which he never managed to get himself off! He tried again and this time the staff held onto the harness and then let go. It was bye bye while Daniel swung!
Once he got back onto the platform again, he enjoyed it very much and was pleased that he did it. While he was being pulled up, he felt like that he was being rescued by the helicopter!
It was Lisa's turn. She also asked for the chair style too. she was feeling comfortable in the chair cos she didn't have to face down and concentrate on looking at the staff. They played a couple of tricks on her. They did ask her to lean back and just like Daniel, holding onto the harness and never let go when she was ready to lean back! As the staff pulled her back to the platform, she didn't have a chance to tell them off cos they "pretended" that they slipped by letting go of the harness, causing me to leave the platform!
She enjoyed it very much and she gained confidence again after what happened with the Nevis Bungy. Enough to want another go on it! She asked for backward style, still avoiding to look down. This style involves standing on your heels over the edge of the platform. Hands behind your head and slowly fall back into the canyon below. The staff refused to let me do that style and was practically forcing me to go with Gimp boy goes to hollywood style.
That style is suspending you upside down over the canyon staring directly at the canyon floor, arching your back and reaching for the river below. Eyes open and wait to be released, swooping down towards the river!
Lisa was scared but still confident. She really didn't have a chance to take it in as the staff did it quickly before she knew that she was released!! she was pleased that they forced her to do that style instead of doing the backwards style. It was worth it in the end. We both have bought photos and dvds to prove it.
End of the day, we had a great day doing the activities.
In the evening, we wandered around the city, visiting the beach with a beautiful view of the Lake. Been visiting few shops but unfortunately due to spending a fortune on the activities, we were unable to buy few things that we would wanted from the shops!
Oh on the weather report, its now starting to feel like a proper summer. In the past few days, it have been hot and sunny. We also are seeing christmas stuff everywhere which we are finding it odd to see it in the sun!
