"Money isn't the key to happiness. What really gives people meaning and happiness is a combination of four things: Control over what they're doing, progress in what they're pursuing, being connected with others, and being part of something they enjoy that's bigger than themselves." ~ Morgan Housel
One day in February a most beautiful thing happened... Mr. Smith resigned from his job and this is what he said: "Gentlemen, in order to provide as much time for tansition as possible, I would like to inform you that effective May 01, 2011 my resignation from Patch Point will become effective. Over the last several years my family has made significant sacrifices to support my role as division manager in Fort St. John, and the time has come for me to refocus my priorities more toward my wife and children and my elderly mother and less toward my work. I intend to take at least a year of down time and spend it reconnecting with those that matter most to me before their time in my home or my life has passed. My wife will also be taking a year sabbatical from her job, our children will be taking a gap year from school, and we intend to spend a major part of our time in travel and on a couple of volunteer assignments..."
As we venture into new territory it is exciting and worrisome at the same time. To be leaving our comfort zone is an overstatement. Out of the box, on the edge, the cheese has slipped off the cracker... it all aplies to us. But somewhere in the back of my mind I know that change is always hard, even if it is good.
Right now, it is the chaos of the inevitable exodus of junk that makes me shudder.
