Jim and Sim's World Adventure
Day seven of the Trek America Tour. Steve came and met us in Banff yesterday. He has the biggest van...sorry truck...in the world - its massive!!!!
We went into Banff for breakfast and then drove to spray lakes which had a view over the Bow Valley. The lake was an amazing blue colour right in the middle of the mountains.
Had lunch in Canmore and then we drove back to site. We were on cooking duties so we had to cook for the group. We went for a BBQ (first of the year) because it was too much hassle to do anything else.
Steve decided to stay over and booked himself into a hotel (Matt offered him a tent but he turned it down - can't think why - maybe some large, furry brown animal made his decision for him)
We had a BBQ and a few beers with the group and then sloped off with Steve to his hotel. Before we got there we went to a lounge and had a lovely bottle of wine in front of a log fire. It was really nice and much better than our 1 dollar beers we have been drinking.
Went to Steve's hotel room and it was massive. It even had its own log fire and an upstairs with a view out onto the moutains. We had another drink and then went to bed. It was brilliant - no bears!!!! A nice soft mattress, hot water and towels.......
Today we went off to Calgary. We had a look around the house that Steve is Building for his brother - which was very impressive and then went into town. We went to the top of the tower to look over the City. We stood on the glass floor which was a bit scary.
We then had a walk around town and ate a lovely lunch outside in the sunshine and topped it off with a walk to the park by the river.
Sim bought some special polar fleece socks - an essential piece of clothing. Jim got a new mug (no surprises).....
Steve drove us back to camp and we said our goodbyes.
We had a brilliant time with Steve and it was really good to catch up.
Steve - Thanks for the weekend its really apreciated...
