Jim and Sim's World Adventure
Day Five of the Trek America Tour....We arrived in Banff safely yesterday and set up camp. We then went to Chateaux Banff for cocktails at dusk which was really nice.
We are now in bear territory which means that all food has to be locked away and all toiletries has to be put in bear bins overnight. (apparently bears are a bit partial to toothpaste and deoderant!!).
Got up early and headed off to Lake Louise for a walk. We could only get half way around as it was snow bound. The whole lake was completely frozen, it was very beautiful.
We then went to Johnsons Canyon for a hike. Sim made it to lower falls and Jim continued to upper falls. After that we went to the hot srpings and all hired 1920's bathing suits, it was hilarious as everyone else in the pool had brought there own costumes. The springs were 40 degrees and overlooking the snow capped mountains - what more could you ask for? (a glass of wine maybe??).
We had a night out in town (no cooking or cleaning), had some food and some drinks and a bit of a boogie to a live band who played loads of songs that we all knew.
On our way home to the TENT (in the middle of the woods) the taxi driver informed us that there had been a bear attack 5k down the road. I thought it was very kind of him to let us know - just as we were going to bed!! Sim didn't get a lot of sleep.
We found out that the person attached was cycling in a place they shouldn't have been....
