Hello All,
Sorry for not updating sooner. The internet is still not really working properly and there is no wireless so I'm afraid still no photos!
We have however been trying to enjoy ourselves in LA as much as we can while freezing and trying to stay out of the rain!
We arrived late on Saturday and wandered the streets of Hollywood (we just wandered up and down Hollywood Blvd). We checked out the walk of fame and had a squiz at the outside of the Kodak Theatre (where they are holding the Oscars in a weeks time - we can't do a tour as its awards season...doh!). We checked out the handprints in front of Graumans Chinese Theatre and we decided to see Push. Tara didn't want to come so we walked her back to her bed! The theatre is GORGEOUS! and enormous! And the screen was huge...
Sunday we did almost nothing, which was nice! We again wandered along Hollywood Blvd - this time a bit further than last night - but otherwise did not alot!
Monday we headed to Warner Bros Studio for a tour of the lot. It was okay in the morning and as the bus ride progressed, so did the clouds! By the time we walked half way to the gate we needed, it was pouring and we weren't sure exactly where we were going! We did get there though and the tour was fantastic! You watch a short movie first on the history of WB before they take small groups out in oversized golf buggies. We drove through the back lot first as it had stopped raining and saw the outside sets used in Gilmore Girls (currently on loan to Ghost Whisperer), ER, Sarah Conner Chronicles and many others. We saw Ray Romano coming out of a building (he's hair is bigger in real life!). We then headed towards the front lot which is where all the sound stages are. Turned out, there was an episode of the New Adventures of Old Christine filming (and without a studio audience) so we were allowed in to watch. It was interesting and boring at the same time!
We spent about 30 minutes in there and I needed to use the restroom and you have to go outside (and into another building...not use the restroom outside!!). We had to be escorted so while waiting for the other lady to come out, who should walk past but the Without a Trace cast (okay, not all of them...only 3!). Emma was so mad that she missed it! Hehe! They have a few museums that they take you too as well with props and things, including the Central Perk set from Friends, which is looking a bit worn!
We tried to get in to see Ellen with no luck so we headed over to NBC to do a studio tour. The guy at the desk told us we could have tickets to the Tonight Show with Jay Leno or the studio tour and that if we lined up for Leno now, we had a pretty good chance of getting in. So, we lined up for Leno for about an hour. Chatting with the people around us, turned out Simon Baker was on the show so we were really hoping to get in now...at one stage they stopped the line with 3 people in front of us and Emma said to the lady please put us out of our misery - are we going to get in? and she was like yes, yes, you're fine. Phew!
Leno was great and Simon Baker was goregous =P We gave a huge cheer where Leno mentioned he was from Australia...that was our contribution!
On Tuesday, we headed to Universal Studios. We also did a tour there though didn't see much. Emma waved to the main guy from the TV series Life, which she likes anyway so it was a good thing she saw him!
Wednesday we got up late and headed into Downtown. There is not much there but we went to the Gift Shop at the morgue...yep, a gift shop at the coroners office! The lady in there was hilarious! We then headed to Anaheim to watch our first ice hockey game. Anaheim Ducks vs Calgary Flames. It was fantastic. Fights are just allowed to go on with fists and everything (one on one only though) until they end up on the floor. Ducks won in overtime! Woo hoo!
Today, we are attempting to head to Santa Monica and then see what else we can see depending on the weather and if Tara ever gets out of bed! Tomorrow we are off to Hawaii! Woo hoo! See most of you really soon!
