We wandered towards Capitol Hill and got stuck on the wrong side of Pennsylvania Avenue waiting for the practice inauguration parade to go past. There were armed forces lined in a guard of honour for miles and miles down the avenue and the police weren't letting anyone cross. We headed out quite early and walked to Capitol Hill. I wasn't sure I would be able to find the visitor centre so wanted to make sure we had plenty of time. It is underground so as to not spoil the 'aesthetics' of the place. Like I thought, it wasn't really signposted but we ended up at the right place.
