After school I went out for dinner with Sunny, her husband and 2 of her friends and their kids! Went to a meat restaurant near sunny's house, wasn't the usual korean style restaurants...this was kinda like picnic tables and benches with BBQ's fitted in the middle of the table. So first they order a huge sirloin steak each and ofcourse it comes raw so you cook it yourself. They cut it up though into Galbi chunks. It was delicious!! Cooked perfectly! They then brought over some strips of raw beef...like the size of a worm and its in oil and spice and they eat it like that!! I had to have a wee taste but the texture was just too strange! Raw meat eeek! They then brought over some more beef, smaller pieces that weren't as nice as the sirloin but nice anyway! Lovin gettin to cook my own meat! You stink when you come out of the restaurant tho! Another strange this was that there was a metal dish on the BBQ with cloves of Garlic and oil in it. They wait till its bubbling then they eat the garlic cloves.....on their own! The texture is just like potato but for me it was just far too strong....I mean I like garlic but come on!!! So after all this I was stuffed....but as always they still asked if I wanted rice or noodles!! I had to decline...foo to the brim! Had a taste of a different korean alcohol which had a similar taste to wine, called San sa chun, pretty nice....better than Soju anyway but thats not hard!
Later that fine eveing I went to meet the guys at Crazy Duck for a few beverages! Liz and Tom had been drinking Soju since 7 so were pretty buggared hahaha! There was only a few of us that lasted till the end, a good night was had by all! Far too much cocktails tho so wee Shazza was not feeling to fresh all day saturday so the day was wasted! Spent the day cleaning my flat and shouting on Hughie!
On sunday the girls came through to Hwaseo for a visit since they had never been before, we went to the park and had a good walk about trying to find some other foreigners since there doesnt seem to be any in my town! Spotted one eventually but he was at the other side of the river so no chance of sparking up a conversation! We then had a look about in town and had some Pizza for dinner! yum! Showed the girls my flat and they were very very jealous at how nice my flat was :-) I have only seen Jess's flat so I was worried they'd say something like "god what a shame you have such a small apartment" but apparently my flat is the nicest they have seen and couldnt believe my kitchen was in a seperate room and my bathroom was huge! yyeeaahh for meeee! They were amazed that all my furniture was brand spanking new and gobsmacked at my fancy tv! So I now appreciate my flat alot more!!!!! We headed to Ingaydong and Liz showed me her flat.....it was actually just one room! Her kitchen was next to her bed and her furniture was old etc. Nice tho just different to mine. Afterwards we went to the Family Mart (local store) and sat outside with a few beers....you can drink anywhere in Korea, they have tables and chairs outside the local convenience stores for people to sit and drink! We met Jo (another scot) a a bar called Janbeers in town and enjoyed a pitcher of lemon soju...kinda smells/tastes like Jif at first hahahaha! But after a few you don't notice..funny that eh! Ofcourse the night took us along to Crazy ducks where we met Wyatt (korean guy) and Tom. Another heavy night!
