Well on thursday the 5th June we got the 9pm train to Busan.....worst journey ever, the train was roasting- Air con my A***!!!! The train was totally packed, luckily we had booked our tickets in advance so we had seats but the ailse was full of people crammed in so I had an old sweaty man hanging over me the whole way! Luckily we had purchased a few beers to get us through the journey. 5 hours later we arrived in Busan very sleepy and very sweaty! Train only cost us 50,000 Won return!! That's like £25!! AMAZING! So it was like 2am when we got there and found a hotel that Brendan had heard was cheap and ok so we grabbed a taxi and made our way there. Hotel looked ok from the outside and was only £20 a night per room so score! BUT the hallways were absolutely mingin!! The carpet was manky! Luckily the room was actually really nice...so wierd! We had the most amazing view on to a beach! Got to bed aventually at about 5am after a good chinwag.
In the morning we headed to the busier area of Haeundae which has a very popular beach famous in korea. Found a really good hotel for £30 a night per room and booked for 2 nights- dumped the bags, got the swim cozzys out and headed to the beach! The beach was packed! It was the annual Sand festival so there were huge sand sculptures and people everywhere! We spent the day swimming in the sea and soaking up some rays- FAB! At night we went out for some dinner at Bennigans (cheaters I know) then headed for a few bottles of Soju and beers. In the bar we went to the Tables had built in holes or holders for your bottle which kept it freezing cold- awesome!
Saturday was spent pretty much the same as Friday except there was a huge stage set up on the beach so there was live music and dancing all day! Also got to play some Beach Volleyball so that made my year! Love it! Spotted some other foreigners mucking about with a volleyball so went over and introduced myself as the girls weren't up for it. Had a great time! Was diving about like a crazy woman! The lifeguard on the beach was the highlight of the weekend however hahahaha! as you can see from the picture he unlike many koreans wasn't scared to show a bit of flesh! Strangely he had 2 pairs of trunks on??? A thong then a pair of tiny speedos over the top hahah! He was a great laugh and spent most of the time winding people up. He joined us for a game of volleyball too which was soooo funny!
Saturday night we headed to Gwangalli beach where there was a strip of pubs/clubs. We had some Kalbi (BBQ's meat) and Soju for dinner and had a walk along the beach towards a small carnival at the other end. The Gwangan bridge runs parallel to the beach and was just beautiful at night! We all had a wee go on the bucking Bronco on which I think I did myself an injury then we went on the viking ship and enjoyed some Candy Floss. Along the beach people were serving some wierd looking sea creatures, the sea cucumber, octopus and something that looked like a wee willy!!! hahaha! sorry but it did! Wish I got a picture seriously you would have to take a second look! We went to a place called Thursday party which was full of foreigners and got stuck in to some shots and beers......when we left it was daylight and sat on the beach for a while before admitting defeat and crawling into a taxi to get back to Haeundae.
Sunday......dying!! Jo was doing the Shark dive at the aquarium under the beach so me and Liz went in and had a look but totally missed Jo! Spent the rest of the day sleeping off the hangover on the beach!
Train home at 9:30pm......so tired at work on monday! Totally worth tho will def be back to Busan if I get the chance!!!! Good times!
