So today was school as usual only 3 classes though! A wednesday is teacher training day so todays training was a day out at Gwanggyosan (san=mountain) the guradian mountain of Suwon, so after lunch Sunny drove our bunch to the mountain. Some of the other teachers actually climbed to the top (1909 ft) and you recieve a gift at the top! Our group seemed to prefer to just mill around the bottom.....suited me fine it was 26C.....I was melting and they all had like 2/3 layers on! Mental! There was a pebble path leading up to the first meeting point, you have to take off your shoes and walk on the pebbles....brings health and luck, all I got were sore feet! We quickly resorted back to the normal path! We climbed a little to find a small lake...full of huge fish and even spotted a wee tortoise having an afternoon dip! Spotted around the place were little gazebo/hut things so you could get some shelter from the heat...ive never moved so quick when I seen one! So we chilled out for a wee while just chattin and taking in the sights. After a few hours we made our way back down to the entrance where there was a BBQ on the go so we sat down with all the teachers for some grub and some much needed water! Although we drank the water out of bowls instead of cups! Quality! managed to stay dry. First the waitresss brought over some kimchi, pepper paste and some different kinds of leaves and lettuce and green chilli's! They were just dipping the chilli's in to the pepper paste and chompin away..I thought this was amazing the girls decided they would pose for some pics with their chilli's hahaha! Then they brought out a dish with like jelly cubes and salad. The jelly was made of the gelatin of nuts apparently.....it was the wierdest thing I have ever tasted! Couldnt handle the wierd texture and the sauce that was mixed in with the salad was sooo hot! Had to guzzle a bowl of water. Next is was the BBQ'd pork and another kind of paste (really salty) and something that was like a squid pancake-looked like an omlette! Actually really enjoyed it! So again they take the leaf and pop on some meat and paste and shove it in! After all this food I thought we were finished....I was stuffed!!! They then told me I had to choose rice or noodles
honestly thought I was going to burst! But the kept egging me on to eat more! The rice was even extremely spicey because they add in pepper paste and lots of spiced veg..couldnt eat it all!
I went round the tables chattin to some of the teachers and eventually one group offered me a taste of some korean alcohol called Makalbe (well thats what it sounded like)!!! Was very tasty but im told by some teachers that it lethal and will give you the worst hangover imaginable. All of the teachers kept calling me Sharon Stone all day too....sometimes their humour is a bit bizarre! Ive heard the kids calling me it to- obviously the only Sharon they know. haha!
Afterwards a few of the girls headed back in to the centre of town to go to a games hall to play some pool...hilarious, I think a few of them had too much makalbe! Missin the cue ball hahaha! After a few games me and sunny headed to the Lotte Mart for a few bits and bobs....somehow ended up getting a mobile phone, not quite sure how that happened. I think sunny just decided that I should get one for the coming weekend because I was goin to meet foreigners that I had been speaking to on facebook. Dont think Eunju was chuffed tho coz she said she could of found somethin cheaper but not in time for the wknd. It was pretty expensive but all the phones are its bizarre you pay for the phone and your monthly fee! So payed about £90 for the phone and will be paying about £20 per month too! But im glad I got one eventually!
Got home....absolutely nackered at half 9 after being on the go all day!
