Due to very strong winds and the dolphin trip being cancelled, we decided to try again today. Well worth it, they normally run 3 trips a day but because of the wind due to increase later in the day, they only did one trip today and we were lucky to be on it. The tiny dolphin in this harbour are called Hector dolphins and are the smallest of the species. They were really fast and swam in front of the boat. We also saw tiny penguin seals and birds nesting in the cliffs. It was very windy onboard, but Pete still managed to get the complimentary glass of Sav. Blanc.down his neck without it blowing out of the glass.
After the trip we had to drive to Dunedin another 5/6hr drive. At this point I must nominate that trip to qualify for the worlds most boring road. Miles of straight road with fields and nothing much else to see.
Still looking for a lot more sheep, I think there is more cattle here than sheep.
Arrived in Dunedin at about 7 o'clock. The temperature is a bit different down here. Left Akaroa it was 18 arrived in Dunedin it was 7 ☹️️.
We went out for a final meal with our travelling pals, as we leave from here to go to our cycle trip and they continue on to Queenstown and the west coast.
