Decided to take the bus tour round Dunedin due to lack of time. It was an excellent trip with only 11 people on a small bus. The guide/driver took us round all the main sights in the city, around the suburbs where we saw the worlds steepest street, (sorry Carolyn we didn't have time to climb it) then round by the gardens and the harbour and finally the ocean front. As the wind was still very strong the waves coming in were huge.
In th afternoon we booked on the train to do the start of the otago trail. This part is still a working train line, thank goodness, it was a climb up all the way. It was one of the worlds scenic train rides and certainly lived up to its name, Taieri Gorge Railway.. The train went up to one station before the finishing point of our ride. I am now hoping that it is flat for the ride as we seemed to be at the top today.
We now have to repack our luggage so we can take just a small bag on the bike trip.
Not sure of internet connections up there so may have to wait for a few days before you can feel my pain
