Leaving our luxury suite in Auckland in the pouring rain, we travelled SE to the Coromandel Peninsula to a place called Panaiu on the eastern side of the peninsula. Our accommodation this time was a motel. Our unit was very cosy and all the extras were free. Bikes, golf clubs, BBQ, and a free laundry. Ok so let's get the pants washed for free. The weather was still wet, so we donned full waterproofs and set out for a walk.
This town is where the wealthy come to holiday, and as it is not yet the holiday season it was very quiet. We walked through streets of amazing houses and back along a wet and very windy silver sandy beach.
Then we needed food. The only place open was serving a restricted menu of pizza.
We ate our pizza and met some Brits who happened to be travelling with Travelbag and were also wondering what would happen when we all reach South Island.
Apologies for the delay in updating the blog and no Nick the road hadn't swallowed us up but had obviously done something to the wifi as it was rubbish.
