Well after the highlights of Ranfurly where a car passes through once every half hour. We started towards Hyde where we had been warned there was nothing. After another good days/mornings cycle. Look at the scenery, that's Pete and I on the bridge. We arrived at Hyde, and yes it was true there was nothing there. Found our accommodation which was good and clean but the most basic we have had on the trail. No wifi, no TV, no radio, no newspapers. The upside was that the landlady was cooking dinner. There were 8 of us as the two pairs of ladies were also staying there. We all shared one big square table and the food was delicious. She had done slow cooked lamb and tarragon chicken with loads of veg and roast potatoes followed by pavlova with fruit in a Drambuie sauce and ice cream. Then it was 8pm and nothing to do......there is a limit to how early you want to go to bed. Anyway we managed to read till about 9.30 then gave up. It rained very hard overnight and were concerned that our last day would be wet.
