Wednesday 26th October - went hiking again today in Yosemite, went for a harder route than yesterday, it was a 3.5 mile hike to the top of Yosemite falls. 3 of the 3.5 miles were all up hill, the scenery was again amazing especially when we finally got to the top. The walk was so steep and the path was so rocky you had to watch were you were stepping most of the way up and all of the way down so had to keep stopping to look at the views while we were walking. ...

Tuesday 25th October - Slept really well in our tent cabin that resembled the Alcatraz cell. Went walking in Yosemite National Park today, this is an amazing place, everybody should come see it at least once. We walked up to Vernon Falls and then Nevada Falls, a round trip of around 10 miles. I could go on all day about how amazing the scenery is but you have to come see it to get the scale of it. Monday 24th October - Leaving San Francisco today but before we left we visited Alcatraz Island. Was freezing on the way over on the ferry as there was a really cold wind. Alcatraz was very interesting, had a tour guide tell us all about the people who have tried to escape, then had an audio tour of the prison itself. Sunday 23rd October - spent the day in San Francisco, hired bikes and cycled across the Golden Gate bridge and then on to Salsalido. As the ride was mostly flat Dai decided we should go up what looked like a short hill but it must have been over a mile long. The ride took us around 5 hours in total, a long time of cycling without cycling shorts!! Leaving the coast tomorrow and heading back in land.

Saturday 22nd October - left lighthouse and continued along highway 1. Stopped at Maverick beech to see if there were any of the giant waves, but it was dead flat :-( Followed highway all the way up to San Francisco, saw bridge as we drove in. Walked around up and down some of the steep hills you see on tv. Are staying here for 2 days so hireing bikes tomorrow to ride accross Golden Gate bridge, then going to Alcatraz on Monday.
