After our journey from Pisco, we arrived into Ica and made the short taxi journey to Huacachina, an amazing oasis in the desert. On arrival to our hostel, we got offered cheaper accommodation if we wanted to go on the sand boarding-dune buggying tour...so we signed up and a little under an hour later were on our way into the desert!!!
After zipping, jumping, flying through the dunes we stopped at a few smaller dunes and gave sand boarding a go. Shane did standing up boarding, as well as the faster, easier lying on your belly boarding. Phil stuck with the lying down option, less far to fall that way!!!
This was great craic, and we soon moved onto to bigger and steeper dunes which we flew down!! It was good fun despite the sand getting everywhere!!! Luckily we didn't have to walk too far in the dunes, as that sinking sand is a killer!!!The small bit we did was sufficient!!!!:)
On the way back he interrupted the crazy but good fun driving, to see the start of the sunset. Much to Phils disappointment, we didn't get to see it all...but we did finish with a bit more madness in the buggy, so it wasn't all bad!!!
While we were here we also tried the Pisco Sour, a cocktail with whipped egg white in it, that both Chile and Peru claim to be their own...it's actually fairly tangy and definitely not the worst thing we have drank!!!
That is about all Huacachina has to offer so it's another day chilling and hanging around before the night bus to Arequipa. So it's goodbye sea level life and hello altitude!!! So the stay here was short but exhilarating, it really is a stop well worth making!
