We arrived into Argentina after another easy enough border crossing. Again we had been warned of delays and searches, but we were lucky and came across none of this so it was a painless move to the next country.
Although both Salta and Cordoba were nice cities we didn't do a huge amount in them!! Due to having very poor internet in Bolivia we had not really had time to plan Argentina as much as we wanted to....so our first days in the country were spent planning!!! Not very exciting we know, but as we were now in the 8th largest country in the world it had to be done!!! Additionally prices have gone through the roof here, the Lonely Planet was published in 2010 and the prices that we are coming across are at the very least double of what's in there, but more often than not its closer to triple the price!!! So we needed to make sure we were getting the best deals as well as only going where we really wanted to!!! It was a bit of a shock to the system after coming out of Bolivia, the cheapest country in South America.
The pictures pretty much sum up what we did, a lot of wandering around getting to know the place......and experiencing our first proper siesta time....shops shut from 2-5pm.....and also the reality of how late people eat out over here...we went to try the famous 'asada' (BBQ) at 9.00pm only to be told that it wasn't ready yet!!!
We went up the cable car in Salta to get the views of the city...pretty standard so far, until you get to the top and see the open air gym up there!!!! It seemed that anyone who wanted to could just jump on the equipment and work away....while loads of other visitors just watched them!!! Wouldn't be my choice of workout venue anyway!!!!
So once we had these places done, it was down to Bariloche, the first major destination for us!
