Arrived safely in Taupo and stopped off to look at the the Huka Falls which were absolutely amazing! We're in a really nice hostel with a Spa pool and a really cute cat! Lake Taupo is huge! On the trip up from Kaikoura we stopped at a lookout to watch the fur seals, that was really great to see! There were hundreds of them and most of the adults just lazed around on beach in sun, while the young ones were playing in the pools and fighting! So very much like humans really! Well we survived the 3 hour ferry trip from the south to north island! We were very tempted to fly it in just 25 min, but thought that was a bit grand for us lil backpackers! ...

Well we chilled out here for a few days, it's a really nice sleepy little seaside town, with some amazing views of mountains and the coast! We stayed in a great hostel, which was so relaxing and unique. It had and old record player and loadsa great old vinyls which were very funny to listen to. Off on our glacier hike today!! We got all done up in our sexy hiking gear, coats, trousers, boots, socks, hats and gloves! So we were looking truely professional (especially with the pink rucksacks!!) We hiked to glacier face in true New Zealand style rain (very heavy and hard!)!! Well, flight into NZ was fine and we're staying in a really great place, clean, tidy, fun and loadsa cool people, so it's great! It's very green like UK and the weather is similar to November, refreshing and crisp after the heat in OZ. Still might need to buy scarf and gloves tho, maybe even some thermals for Sean!!
