Avoiding Death, Disease and Diarrhoea
We had to wake up early for our Cape Reinga tour, it was cloudly and damp but we didnt mind as we were travelling so far north that the weather would almost certainly change! Our first stop was to the Puketi Kauri forest, the trees are huge and they are about 2,000 years old, now thats old!! Next we drove along 95 mile beach but its only 67 miles long (the chap who measured it must of been irish!?) our driver was belting it along saying how many buses turn over but she didnt slow down. Sand boarding was the next main stop, bit of a trek up the 200m sand dune but comind down on the board takes no time at all. Along high way 1 we came to the most northern poin on NZ, Cape Reinga. Had my photo taken by the most northern lighthouse to go with the most southern down in Bluff. It was such a nice day it was a shame really as when its stormy you can really see the two oceans crashing against each other out to sea. The Pacific (bluer) and the tasman (greener). The long drive back we had fish nd chips in a little fishing village, then fresh fruit!!
