Every traveler that goes to South America visits the falls it's a must so we was down. We arrived from Florianopolis after an easy 10 bus over night at 8pm buzzing to see the falls. If you travel by bus in Brazil you travel in style loads of leg room and reclining seats nothing like national express anyway enough about the bus.
The staff a Hostel Bamboo where really helpful there was a tour to the Argentine side of the falls that left at 9.25 for 100 reals. This was worth it because the other option would have been four public buses and getting your self across the border and back which is not easy and a perfect opportunity to get ripped off, So we went for the tour.
Crossing the boarder was easy we didn't even have to get out the van the tour guide had all are passports and that was that. Before we got to the falls we stopped at this cool river where the three borders of Argentina, Paraguay and Brazil meet. Pictures taken and back on track to the falls.
Once we arrived it was at 30 minute walk through the park, we saw a lot of racunes on the way everyone thought they were really cute, are tour guide told us to stay away because they have rabies and they will bite you. I'm not sure how true this is I think he just gets feed up with people stopping all the time. Anyway we carried on hitting are first waterfall called the two sisters, this was pretty spectacular from there we went on to the speedboat ride ride which turned out to be the highlight of the trip.
At first they take you to two waterfalls and give everyone the opportunity to take pictures. Then it's cameras away as we got into the spray of the first waterfall which got everyone completely drenched! Then it was full throttle into the bigger waterfall it was so intense you couldn't see, it was far to much fun i could have done it all day! The whole experienced was recorded on DVD which we later bought!
We then got two trains to the very top to see the Main event! The walk let's you experience the waterfalls from above which makes you appreciate the scale of how big they actually are.
You can hear the main waterfall before your even near it the sheer size of the thing is hard to explain its massive. There is so much spray from the waterfall you can't even see the bottom, it was truly spectacular and amazing once in a life time experience we spent twenty minutes there but I could have stayed all day. Back to the bus to return to the hostel for happy hour (bouns) or that's what we thought! Two moody Jews who were in are bus were no where to be found after an hour of waiting and searching I persuaded the driver to ditch them because I'm such an impatient f***er as you know.
Back to the hostel and a few caprins by the pool with a few sound cockneys we meet caps of the day nicely!
The next day we was still buzzing about are experience, the falls was abit more expensive they we had budgeted for so we were determined not to drink to save money, this is where we learnt a valuable lesson. Fantastic weather a hostel with a pool, a bar which lets you have a tab and good music only leads to one thing getting pissed, oh well....
The next day we departed to Curitiba. The hostel arranged are bus ticket which was very helpful. This was the first top rated hostel we had used on hostel world and it was worth it.
