Gaol Prison...these words actually gives me the creeps! We decided to visit there as it was right in the melbourne city and accessible. Today was supposed to be the great ocean road trip but after some hassle from the day previously and charlene did not seem so keen to drive it after yesterday, it is also a bit expensive at around 25 dollars each to hire the car. We opted to do a tour on the great ocean road for monday next day which Ashley's friend called Bundy who practicially lives in the base, st kilda is fully experienced with so we texted him to let him know we were interested. Once we all got on the tram to the central, Ashley suddenly realised that he left his beloved nikon camera back at the hostel so he leapt out of the tram and Dominic followed suit. We all agreed to meet at the gaol prison so three of us stayed on the tram, we got off at flinders street so we could have a more range of trams to go updown where the gaol prison is but we got carried away with looking at liquor stores as we wanted to compare the prices of Midori bottle which i would like to buy and take home. We were on the way anyway so it didnt take up much of the time until we got on a tram and got off with the map in our hands totally puzzled where we were....we got a bit lost yet we found the gaol prison eventually after 15 minutes of wandering around! The map was not clear enough and it was hidden behind the RMIT university buildings anyway we all was waiting for Ashley and Dominic, at right time they texted us saying that they already was inside having a tour of arresting experience which three of us wasnt happy about as we thought they should have waited for us as we were only 15 minutes late after getting lost. We had a heated disagreement which we managed to resolve. After three of us finished visiting the jailhouse for the arresting experience, we all went inside of the gaol prison where they have tiny boxed room with measly hard rock floor with thin bed, these rooms was just the same in the 1930's where the punishment was really severe by hanging the criminals, giving them the lethal injections and starvation. i read one true story which made me feel a bit sad because there was one man called Colin Campbell Ross, he was accused of killing a girl called Alma aged 12 years old. The police felt enornmous pressure to convict someone as the killer of Alma as it caused a uproar in the community then, so they arrested Colin Campbell Ross based on the suspection on the shred of hair on his blanket. They arrested him and had him executed despite him pleading all along that he was innocent, 86 years later, his body was exhumed and the sciencfic evidence of the hair on the blanket was still perserved so a sciencist decided to re-examine it again and revealed that the hair did not match to Alma's DNA so an innocent man had been killed. What is more bizarre fact is that just before Ross was executed, the police recieved a letter from the suspected real killer saying he could not come forward and that he was the real killer, not Ross but he didnt give a name therefore the police decided to proceed thinking it was a hoax so he was the first australian man to be pardoned. After an interesting early afternoon, we all went to Queen Victoria Market as Ashley wanted to have a look around and buy some things, luckily it was packing up at 4pm so we all got there in just nick of time around 3.15. We were hungry after the market finished so we opted to go to melbourne central to have a bite to eat.
