Luna park was only a short distance from our hostel so we visited in the famous Luna theme park which has two parks, one in Melbourne, one in Sydney. It was not what I expected ad it was a bit run down with some repairs in process. The admission was free but there was a ticket hut selling tokens for the rides so in hindsight it was sort of an old-fashioned theme park. After a short period of looking around, we didn't feel like going on rides as it was cold and we were satisfied with what we saw, found out about Luna park, we waited for the tram to take us to the city, once we got on I saw an advert about Melbourne Market and that it was the next few stops so we agreed to get off at Melbourne Market to see what it was like. It was run down, nothing was new and we immediately preferred the Queen Victoria Market with a string of different unique stalls...so we just looked around and was in and out in the matter of minutes! :-) Our next stop was the south cross station to get gloria jeans white hot chocolate only because the weather was not so great with it raining continually so we needed the hot drink to keep us warm! We didn't plan anything today so basically our day was going with the flow! We realised that we needed to sort the car hire for the trip to the great ocean road tomorrow so we went in a backpackers office and enquired about the rentals. We were told that most of rental hire was fully booked tomorrow so we asked where the main street well known for rentals which was the franklin street so we decided to go there by tram. Arriving at the franklin street we went in hertz, avis and budget companies, it was a bit difficult as one or two cars was available but we needed to wait until the lads arrived from Bairnsdale around 4ish, the rentals stores closes at 5 and it was a range of limited choices. We gathered all information and realised it was just after 4pm so we walked to the south cross station to meet with the lads, we agreed to split up again as the lads wanted to drop their bags off at the hostel and us girls was to get something to eat before we all went to AFL match scheduled for 7pm but we needed to be there early to get tickets so we went to nandos which was only around the corner, I ordered regular chips for me' and Charlene to share alongside our chicken wraps, it was massive, i haven't seen so much chips, we were grateful that we opted to share! We met up with lads and set off to AFL match. It was great evening as we got the concession tickets when we were not supposed to seeing that we don't live in Australia but the staff insisted, the match is a bit different to an average game of football but still interesting to watch.
