It was the day when we would go to the great barrier reef at the green island! i was really excited to go, as the result i woke up really early at 7am alert and dressed! We had to be at the ferry terminal at 8.15am so we all set off walking to the ferry terminal. We managed to arrive on time and was told that the ferry would be departing 9am...i was a bit miffed at the fact we had to be there at 8.15 when we dont even leave until 9am!? I think it was a skillful tactic to stop people being late and delaying the ferry so i cant complain. We got given free tea and coffee so i opted for a tea which was lukewarm but nice enough to drink.....The staff was incredibly lovely, there was one staff i liked named Ashlea who was really welcoming and helpful. The journey to the Green island only took a hour so along the way, i took some pictures such as buildings of Cairns from a distance and the ocean was shining seeing the sun came out and it was the hottest day in Cairns so far! i remember thinking to myself how gorgeous this day is!? Once we arrive at the green island, we went to have a look around at the shops. i realised the green island isnt that big , it was quite small and i wondered what the beachcromber island would be like in fiji seeing that i was told it only takes 10 minutes to walk around the island compared to the green island which took 40 minutes walk around. While i was walking, i saw some oil spillage which was a shame to see as it is damaging the great barrier reef! We eventually settled down on a beach with close proximity to the great barrier reef, it was a nuisiance to settle my towel down on the beach as it was a bit windy so i found some rocks to hold it down. A hour later, we decided to explore the famous underwater reef...At first i was a bit panicky about the breathing techniques whilst snorkelling but i managed to calm myself down and oh my...it was a really lovely sight to see underwater, i felt like i was in another world as there was so many fishes, seaweed ,starfish and stringray. i saw a beautiful fish with rainbow coloured fins which reminded me of finding nemo! We took some pictures underwater by buying a underwater camera divided by us 5 so we can print it off once we got back. Afterwards we sat on the beach and took in sun which dried out my wet bikinis and towel, we realised the time had gone so fast while we were snorkelling so we went back to the ferry for the mainland. During the ferry back, we talked with Ashlea and exchanged facebook addresses so we could add each other. Finally we arrived in the mainland of cairns, we walked back to our hostel ,but before we arrived at the hostel, i saw a beggar and felt sorry for him so i gave him a salt vinegar packet of crisps which he said thanks. We got tempted to an irish pub so we went inside to have a quick drink, namely watermelon midori with lemonade for me! we played a game of guessing and naming the person such as asking who was Tracey Emin? She is an fashion designer by the way and has some weird thoughts in her mind, i won by 4 points! On the last question when Dom n Charlene was going against each other to compete for fourth place, they couldn't guess who invented the electricity so Asher gave them a clue but they kept banging on about power sockets and extenstion plugs etc .It was laughable to see them trying to come up with an answer! Once we got back to the hostel, we went straight to sleep until 2am in the morning when i saw a random man coming in our dorm and helping himself to the top bunk., i went back to asleep then at 7am in morning , i tried to talk to the man who i thought was Ashley in the first place but i was wrong after realising he must be the man who came in earlier in the morning....how embrassing as i was trying to sign to him asking 'why are you up this early?' and when he didnt reply, i said hey?! amazingly Charlene made a fool of herself by doing exactly same thing as i did but much worser! she was signing in an aggressive manner when the man ignored her, she thought it was Ashley too...Once she woken up properly and it had hit her that she was talking to a stranger , she blushed and ran to wake me up...when i revealed to her that i did a similar thing , we laughed so much before realising it was 7am in morning so we went back to bed still laughing about what we did!
