Lagoon day! We slept in until 10.30 and got ready with no rush knowing that we had plenty time, as the result we left the hostel at 12 :-) it was sunny so we walked to the Lagoon which was right on the front of sea, it was built because nobody could swim in the sea as it was often riddled with sharks and there was no beach to lie in. During the route to the lagoon, we saw a lot of shops around selling different stuff such as kangaroo tail and Australia flag towel, I wanted to buy a T-shirt that says I love Australia but I couldn't find it in Sydney and Brisbane so I hope I will find it here in Cairns. We found some empty space to put down our towels and just chill out. We sunbathed for a bit and I read a magazine called company which is fabulous filled with fashion, celebrities and real life stories. I could feel my skin prickling in the heat so I decided to reapply my sunscreen as the Australian sun is quite powerful. We brought the leaflets on what to do in cairns do we could plan ahead of what we wanted to see and do. I devised a plan about food, whereas we wanted to eat out or eat in using the kitchen provided by our hostel and all of us opted to split it in half, few days eating out and few days eating in to save money. I wanted to go see the great barrier reef as it is famous in Cairns! There was a information centre nearby so we went in and having collected information, we opted to hire a car ready for tomorrow to go to Port Douglas, around a hour drive up the coast. So far in cairns, it has been good with plenty stores but it has that little something missing. We were hungry so we went shopping in Coles supermarket to buy ingredients needed for our night in eating tacos with minced beef kindly cooked by Dominic and Ashley.
