Steve irwin zoo, the most famous zoo in Australia awaits us all. I was up at 7am in morning because Kirsty texted me asking whether us girls would like to hitch a lift with her to the zoo, we thought it was unfair to the lads so we declined, I went back to sleep on a comfy bed and woke up again at 9am and planned to catch a 10.11 train to beerwah station from central of Brisbane station. It was a hour and half journey to beerwah station in order to catch a free coach shuttle to the zoo, the coach was splashed with pictures of bindi cuddling a koala, we got on the coach and arrived at the Steve irwin zoo. The admission was 46 dollars with student discount which I thought was a bit expensive but considering what happened and the publicity, it makes sense. We began to explore around after consulting with a map. First thing we went was a information centre where they book photo sessions and activities such as feeding the crocodiles. We wanted to book the tiger cubs cuddling session but we were told that the cubs had grown to a brood of tigers. You can imagine the disappointment on our faces when the zoo worker told us....however she said we could have photo taken with a tiger and embark on a walking trail alongside the tiger at the cost of 300 dollars!! It was certainly too much money to pay so we just continued to browse around the zoo until Kirsty texted us asking where we were and met up with us. We opted to go to see the crocodiles area first as there was a show scheduled at 2pm. There were three kinds of different crocodiles, saltwater, American, and freshwater crocodiles. I saw one huge freshwater crocodile which was caught by Steve irwin himself after he raised concerns about the crocodile being a target for hunting in the creek as he was so big and the profit to be made from the crocodile skin was plentiful. It saddened me' to hear that because most animals suffer for fashion such as tigers, meerkats and crocodiles. We discussed about how sad it is for Steve irwin to die from a stingray piercing through his heart when he dealt with much more dangerous animals. Around 10 minutes after the show started, we got bored as it was mainly all talk and no action so we went to another area which was elephants! I was happy as it was feeding time so we queued up and I gave a carrot to the elephant called simba I think, when he took my carrot it was slimy and wet from his trunk to my hand! Moving on, we saw tigers, I was a bit shocked to see a zoo keeper man walking in the tiger enclosure and patted the tiger back like it was a dog, the tiger was like hmm just masking in the sun lying on a patio lol. We wanted to feed the kangaroos again so we went in the kangaroos area and I saw the most magical thing! There was a kangaroo with a joey...a little mini kangaroo :-) it's face was so cute it melted my heart watching it! They are really friendly towards people. After a long day we decided to go back to Brisbane, Kirsty drove Charlene, me', and Ashley back while Dominic and Asher got the short straw of getting the train back, bless them. We decided to get something to eat once the lads got back from the train, us girls opted to have hungry jacks fast food while the lads opted to have subway...we decided it would be nice if we go to a nice pub or something like that seeing that it was last night in Brisbane so we went to pancake house and I ordered a vanilla milkshake with grilled banana pancakes with strawberry sauce which was really tasty! We bid Kirsty farewell after a couple of hours in the pancake house and packed our stuff ready for next day to airport.
