Brisbane is probably the nicest city we have ever been to, it is so clean and they seem to have the right mix of business and pleasure. Went on a 4x4 Safari to Fraser Island - a sand island that has more sand than the Sahara desert. The island was nice, had really nice lakes (you could drink the water as you swam!) and sand dunes but we hated the trip - definately the worst trip of our lives! There are so many accidents on the island so the tour operators scare the life out of you before you go to make sure that your careful. We left for Fraser Island terrified - I didn't even want to go! Spent a night in Mackay on our way down the coast. We arrived on the Sunday and there was nobody about!! - nothing was open and nobody was in the town. It was so quiet!! The day after we decided to hire a bike and cycle around the town. We visited the Botanic Gardens, the beach and even found "Petrie St.". We cycled for hours around the town in the boiling heat before catching our bus for Hervey Bay.

Sailing around the Whitsundays was amazing, the islands were so beautiful, especially Whitsunday Island where we went to Whitehaven Beach. We spent a few hours on the beach, it was like paradise, walking on the sand was like walking on flour. We walked into the sea for ages but however far we walked the water never reached our knees. Just spending a few days in Airlie Beach trying to save money by not doing anything, been camping for a few days to save up! Tomorrow we are going on a 3 day/2 night boat trip around the Whitsunday Islands. Everyone says how nice they are so we are really looking forward to it.
